In an earlier post, I argued that Obama should say something to rebut the McCain/Palin smears.

Now, having gotten wind of a new round of planned smears, the Obama campaign is really playing smart ball. The campaign preemptively released an ad, charging: Whatever McCain says is a dirty trick intended to distract voters from McCain’s erratic performance in the economic crisis.

Now THAT’S smart politics.
