Who Banned Roger Rabbit?

The directions that censorship takes in China sometimes baffle me. Here’s one of several news stories about how China has banned movies that mix animation and live actors. This article reports that China “has said it might ban all foreign cartoons from prime-time television once the quantity and quality of domestic productions is considered adequate.”

technically, i would not call this censorship. china has a certain quota for hollywood movies. compare it to france: both have quotas to ensure the viability of domestic production. i guess they want to stimulate the cartoon industry in china.

I defer to your superior knowledge, but I’ll leave the original writing there so as not to seem too Orwellian. Thanks for the correction.
